This year will mark death anniversary of country’s first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru on May 27. Every year the leader is paid floral tribute by elite ministers, govt. officials and other dignitaries across the nation.
Special program is organized at Shanti Van, the memorial of Nehru where priests recites hymns from sacred texts for the departed soul of the great leader of the country. The program proceeds by all religions prayer meeting, followed by audio play of Nehru’s popular speech. The famous speech “Tryst with Destiny” was addressed to the Constituent Assembly in New Delhi at the time of India’s independence.
Nehruji also referred as founder of modern India, served as the country’s first Prime Minister from August 1947 to May 1964. Nehruji worked as guiding light of the country since independence and contributed in growth of country as great writer and amateur historian.
The pivotal leader of India departed on May 27, 1964 at the age of 74.
