Hasyasana: Laughter Pose [हास्यासन – हँसी योग] – Hasya means laughter and Asan means pose. Hasyasan is helpful to be free from anxieties, stress and tension.
Laughter is a natural activity. Laughter exercise has it’s miraculous effect on all the systems of our body, like, the digestive system, the respiratory system, circulatory system, nervous system and glandular system etc.

Practice of daily laughter reveals that physical laughter is slowly and gradually being converted into inner happiness. Inner happiness relates to mind. When we stay long in the blissful state of mind, we are able to realize the everlasting and never dying experience of spiritual bliss.
Laughter practice restores our gross and subtle body and thereby tones up their functional capability. Practice of laughing in our daily Sadhna only for a minute, makes our life active and free from tension.
Types of Laughter:
- Smiling
Experience a wave of happiness on your face and stay for few seconds in this position. - Laughing with mouth shut
Keeping the mouth closed, laugh internally in such a way that every limb of your body laughs. - Silent Laughing
Keep the mouth open and laugh to the heart contents but without producing any sound. - Laughing Loudly
Inhale and laugh freely and loudly without any hesitation, keeping the mouth open and raising your hands upward. Continue this laughing for some time, keeping in your mind that the main purpose of laughter is to manifest one’s happiness and make also others share that happiness. Do not laugh at others but laugh with others.
