What are the origins of pajama?

Pajama is not just a common outfit, it is a common word used across the world by all language speakers. Pajama (Pyjama in UK, Australia and Canada and a few Indian states) is neither an English word nor an Indian word. The word can be traced back to the Persian word ‘paejamah / pajdzame’ which can literally be translated as ‘leg clothing’.
