Acidity (Amalpitta)

AcidityAcidity (Amalpitta) — Ayurveda’s view — Acidity in ayurveda is known as ‘Amalpitta’. It is the state when unhygienic dietary habit increases Pitta’s level in a healthy human body which, in its turn coverts into acids and disturbs the digestion process.

Symptoms

  • Burning sensation in chest
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal pain and tenderness in upper region

Symptoms according to Ayurveda

  • Indigestion
  • Heaviness in body
  • Burning sensation in upper region of abdomen and in neck
  • Loss of appetite
  • Bitter and sour taste burping

Division according to ayurveda:

  1. Udharvgaami amalpitta.
  2. Adhogaami amalpitta.

Home Cure

  • Daily eating of ‘gurh’ or ‘mishri’
  • Neem flower or leaf
  • Bitter gourd
  • Amla powder with lukewarm water after meal is the best therapy (but in regular use)
  • Aloe Vera juice
  • Mulaathee powder
  • Good amount of pomegranate juice
  • Pumpkin juice
