How can you distinguish between poisonous and non-poisonous snakes?

All snakes have poison glands, but the presence of fangs for injecting venom and the type determines whether a snake is poisonous or not. Fangs are normally present in the upper jaw. Snakes with tubular fangs, small scales on the head and wide belly-scales running across its width are poisonous. Snakes with solid fangs or without fangs, and short scales on the belly are non-poisonous. In cobras, the third upper-lip scale is big and touches the eye. In rattlesnakes, the scales of the tail are modified into rings. Only one-third of the world’s snakes are poisonous. All sea snakes are deadly, while fresh-water snakes are non-poisonous.

Funny Logics

  • One doesn’t! The only harmless snake is a dead one, with apologies to Maneka Gandhi.
  • By seeing if the victim is alive or dead.
