Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the oldest player to captain a Champions League team; it is Paolo Maldini (Italy, b. 26 June 1968) when he led AC Milan out against Arsenal in London, UK, on 20 February 2008 aged 39 years 239 days.

Peel plays alongside granddaughters Shellie Bryant, 17, and Amy Shaw, 18.
Peel has been playing football for 27 years, starting at the grand old age of 38. Peel has played as an attacker, sweeper and recently goalkeeper.
“I hadn’t played soccer before. I played other sports — I played netball for the state, I was a softballer, diver and a tenpin bowler,” she said.
Peel has coached her grandchildren, been club president, vice president and treasurer.
The grandmother said she hopes her story will inspire women of all ages to pursue their dreams. ‘I want girls to know there are no limits to what you can achieve,’ she said.
