Battle of Galwan: Movie Overview
Battle of Galwan is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language war-action film directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan under the banner Salman Khan Films. The film stars Khan and Chitrangda Singh in lead roles and is based on the 2020 China–India skirmishes, in which 50–60 soldiers of the Indian Army’s 16 Bihar Regiment, led by Colonel B. Santosh Babu, engaged in combat with soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release worldwide on 17 April 2026.
Filming for Battle of Galwan began in September 2025 in Ladakh, with major action and climax sequences shot amid the region’s challenging terrain and weather conditions. Principal photography later shifted between Ladakh and Mumbai.
The screenplay was written by Chintan Gandhi, Suresh Nair, and Chintan Shah, adapting events from the real-life Galwan Valley clash, a deadly India–China border encounter in June 2020, into a dramatic narrative focusing on the personal and collective sacrifices of soldiers. The official teaser was released on 27 December 2025, coinciding with Khan’s birthday.
The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 17 April 2026.
