Twenty20, or T20, now the rage in the cricketing world, started as a gimmick in 2003 to get county spectators back to English stadiums. It was Stuart Robertson and John Carr who were tasked by the England and Wales Cricket Board to revive a sport which was losing eyeballs rapidly. The two, after market research, realized that a 50-over game was too long to hold interest any longer and came up with Twenty20, an abbreviated 20-over version of the gentleman’s game. Robertson and Carr were successful in getting the crowds back and this stop-gap solution quickly caught the fancy of the cricketing world.
