Movie Plot:

“The Rugrats Chanukah” begins with the scene of Grandma Minkus reading the book on Hanukkah, to Tommy, Chuckie, Lil and Phil. The kids attentively listen to the narration of the grandmother and imagine themselves to be the characters of the story. Tommy assumes himself to be Judas and feels the rage against King Antonica, who has taken over the possession of the Jewish kingdom. Antonica has forced the Greek cultures on the Jews and this makes Judas (Tommy) wage a battle against the King. He forms the army of Maccabees and proceeds to attack the Judas. Maccabees emerge victorious in the battle. The Holy Temple of Jerusalem is rededicated and there is the lighting of the Menorah. But the priest discovers that there is oil for one day only. But miraculously, the oil burns for eight days which leads to celebration of Hanukkah for eight days.

While the kids are listening to the story, Grandpa Boris is agitated over the fact that Schlomo, his old rival in Russia, will be playing the role of the Greek King Antonica, in the play that will be held at Beth Shalom Jewish Center Synagogue. Grandpa Boris has always played the role of the king in all the Hanukkah plays performed there and is now angry over being sidelined. Once the kids finish hearing the story, they dub Schlomo the “Meany of Chanukah”. During the play, the kids go on stage and light the Menorah to defeat the “Meany”. In the end, both Grandpa Boris and Schlomo realize the true meaning of Hanukkah and happily reconcile. The series ends with the optimistic note of love and brotherhood.
