518 people gathered to light up V2 Cigs Electronic Cigarettes at Windward Plaza in Venice Beach, California - setting the world record for the Most electronic cigarettes smoked in one place.
Although Proposition 29 to tax cigarettes recently failed by a narrow margin, V2 Cigs, who stood in support of Prop 29 to tax cigarettes, wanted to show continued support for the issue.
"It was exciting to spread the word about electronic cigarettes by engaging consumers in a fun and motivating way," said Dan Recio, COO of V2 Cigs.
"Our hope is that individuals will find smoking V2 Cigs to be a similar experience to smoking real cigarettes, but without many of the dangerous chemicals found in traditional cigarettes."
According to the Center for Disease Control, over 45 million people smoke cigarettes in the United States.
