The pupils at Ambrosoli International School had strung 30,606 caps into one long chain - setting the new world record for the Longest string of bottle caps.
The previous world record of 10,714 bottle caps was held by an elementary school in the United States.
The Guinness world record for the largest bottle cap pyramid was made of 308,945 caps and built by 12 schoolchildren at the Krasnystaw Cultural Centre in Krasnystaw, Poland.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest bottle cap mosaic consisted of 3,614,468 bottle caps and was created by students at the Freiherr vom Stein School (all Germany) in Hessisch Lichtenau, Germany.
The new world record, settled mostly by four boys - Vianney D'Aboville, Emmett Parkerson, Oliver Stewart and Toby Smith - started as a joke, "The Observer" reported.
"Collecting bottle caps has always been a hobby," said Toby Smith, 9. "I started collecting when I was young and never thought that all this collecting would turn into a world record attempt."
The boys enlisted the support of businesses such as Fat Boyz, Just Kickin and Endiro Coffee at Kisementi; Ethiopian Village in Kabalagala, Mish-Mash restaurant in Kololo, and Royal Suites in Bugolobi, among others.
Their head teacher, Rachel Rice, and other staff volunteered to set up the line of caps along the road leading to the school. |
