London, UK - The Sun's canteen chef Adam Clifford, 21, fried up a whopping 7.7lb (3.5kg) full English breakfast at their offices-setting the world record for the Largest breakfast served on a single plate.
The Sun's massive traditional breakfast contained a staggering 8,000 calories — more than Three Times the recommended daily limit for a man.
Chef Adam: "It's the biggest meal I've ever seen, let alone cooked. This Largest breakfast served on a single plate would certainly set you up for the day, and probably the rest of the week, too. "I'm going to hang the certificate in the canteen for all to see."
Big-eating assistant picture editor Lup Fun Yau, 36 (who holds the world record for eating the most donuts in three minutes) was the lucky recipient of the Largest breakfast served on a single plate — but failed in his brave bid to guzzle the Entire thing.
Eating champ Lup said: "Of all the challenges I've done, this was the hardest. The black pudding and the toast were the real killers. "I started off well, and got through about a third of the food in a few minutes. But then I just hit a brick wall. "I hadn't eaten for hours to prepare, but I kind of went past the phase of being hungry. I'm gutted I didn't get it all down."
The Guinness world record for the biggest commercially available breakfast was recently won by Mario's Café in Bolton, where they serve up a giant 6.5lb (2.9kg) plate of bacon and eggs for £10.95. If you eat all of it in 20 minutes, it's free.
Full English breakfasts are known as the world's greatest hangover cure. The Sun's record attempt for the Largest breakfast served on a single plate was organized to mark the release of Bradley Cooper movie The Hangover on DVD, Blu-ray and download.
