Lifetime Fitness hosted 1052 indoor cyclists at Target Center arena in downtown Minneapolis, for the "Ride of a Lifetime- setting a world record for the Largest Indoor Static Cycling Class.
The two-hour, high-energy Ride of a Lifetime was led by Life Time Fitness Chairman, President and CEO, Bahram Akradi, and top Life Time cycle instructors.
Riders also were treated to music spun live by internationally renowned DJ, Roberto Costa.
The event topped the previous Guinness world record of 600 cyclists, which also was set by Life Time on January 9, 2010, in Houston, Texas. Prior to that, the Guinness world record had been 450 cyclists, set on September 18, 2009, in Galway, Ireland.
Indoor cycling has remained one of the most popular group fitness formats since it first hit the gym scene in the mid 1990's. Classes are often filled with cyclists who are trying to stay in shape during the off-season, as well as triathletes and runners. But cycling experience is not required to take part in a spinning class.
