Photo: San Antonio’s Cowboy Breakfast now holds the World Record for the most tacos served. Locals devoured more than 10,000 tacos in four hours at the event outside Cowboys Dance Hall.
The Guinness World Records world record for the longest line of tacos consists of 2,013 tacos and was assembled by Next:Gen Ministries (USA) in Eagle, Idaho, USA, on 11 September 2013.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest flour taco in the world; it weighed 750 kg (1,654 lb) and was made by the city of Mexicali and Cocinex SA de CV, in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico on 8 March 2003. The taco measured 10.95 m (35.9 ft) long and 86 cm (33.8 in) wide and was made up of the following ingredients: 536.4 kg (1,182.5 lb) of grilled steak, 84.82 kg (186 lb) of dough, 81.2 kg (179 lb) of onion and 48.25 kg (106.3 lb) of coriander.
The Cowboy Breakfast is known as the “kick-off” for the San Antonio Rodeo.
Locals devoured more than 10,000 tacos in four hours at the event outside Cowboys Dance Hall.
They woke up bright and early for the free tacos as well as live music, mechanical bull riding and general camaraderie.
The Cowboy Breakfast Foundation presented a check in July for $15,000, which provided 17 scholarships for students attending St. Phillip’s College’s Tourism, Hospitality and Culinary Arts Department.
The Cowboy Breakfast was recognized in 2001 as the World’s Largest Cooked Breakfast by the Guinness Book of Records.
