The Guinness World Records world record for the The longest journey reversing a tractor and trailer is 17.36 km (10.79 miles) and was achieved by Eamonn Hickson (Ireland) in Annascaul, Ureland.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest parade of Steyr tractors featured 1,338 vehicles, and was achieved by Franz Fischinger (Austria), in Weissenkirchen, Austria, on 02 July 2011. Mr. Fischinger has held this record previously.

Shalvey reversed from Lisgrey House in Virginia to Poles Co-op, on the Dubin road out of Cavan town – a massive 20km.

The previous Guinness world record was held by Kerryman Eamonn Hickson who managed 17.36 kilometres in August 2014.

To qualify as a world record, the entire journey had to be done in reverse using a commercially available tractor and trailer with no modifications.

Speaking after the attempt last week Shalvey said: “It seemed to go very well, we had no stops on it. We didn’t have to stop and go forward at any point. I’m happy enough that it was done… it was 20.1km I was told. I’m very happy that it’s done,” he said.
