Longest blindfolded field goal: Pat McAfee breaks Guinness World Records record

San Francisco, California, USA – February 8, 2016 – Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee hit a 40-yard field goal while blindfolded, during a NFL’s Fan Experience in San Francisco, thus setting the new world record for longest blindfolded field goal (non-competition).

The Guinness World Re longest blindfolded field goalcords world record for the most goals scored by a goalkeeper is 129 and were scored by Rogério Ceni (Brazil), playing for São Paulo Futebol Clube, from 15 February 1997 to 26 August 2015.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most goals scored in a specified period; it is 1,279 by Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Brazil) (b. 23 Oct 1940), known as Pelé, from 7 Sep 1956 to 1 Oct 1977 in 1,363 games.

“Another one for America, guys,” McAfee said after splitting the uprights.

Former U.S. Army Green Beret and Seattle Seahawks long snapper Nate Boyer held the football for McAfee’s record-setting kick.

McAfee graduated from West Virginia University in 2009. He was drafted by the Colts in the 2009 NFL Draft 222nd overall in the seventh round. Over a span of seven seasons, McAfee has played in 111 total games and averages 46.1 yards-per-punt.
