Largest gin tasting event: The Botanist breaks Guinness World Records record

London, UK – February 16, 2016 – UK bar chain The Botanist hosted gin tastings simultaneously across its eight venues: Alderly Edge, Chester, Farnham, Monument Mall, Birmingham, Deansgate, Marlow and Trinity; 796 guests took part in the tasting, enabling The Botanist to smash the previous Guinness World Records world record of 300 participants and to set the new world record for the largest gin tasting across multiple venues.

The Guinness World Records world record for the e largest gin tasting event (multiple venues) involved 796 participants, achieved by The New World Trading Company (UK), across nine venues in the UK, on 11 February 2016.

The nine venues that participated simultaneously in the gin tasting were: The Botanist Leeds, The Botanist Newcastle, The Botanist Chester, The Botanist Birmingham, The Botanist Alderley Edge, The Botanist Manchester, The Botanist Marlow, The Trading House London and The Trading House Glasgow.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most varieties of gin commercially available is 623, achieved by Kevin Berkins (UK), at the Fence Gate in Burnley, Lancashire, UK, as verified on 1 July 2015.

The Botanist, owned by The New World Trading Co., received sponsorship from brands including Whitley Neill, Tanqueray, Caorunn Gin and Fever Tree tonic to host the tasting.

Each taster sampled a flight of three gins from Tanqueray 10, Whitley Neill and Caorunn, before celebrating their success with free drinks and live music.

The New World Trading Company said it was “completely thrilled” to have claimed the title. The chain also holds the title for the most varieties of rum commercially available at The Smugglers Cove in Liverpool, which stocks 151 different types of the spirit.
