Largest gathering of people dressed as cats

Sarawak, Malaysia – May 8, 2017 – A total of 440 people, clad in full cat costumes – complete with ears and tail, participated in the event held in conjunction with this year’s Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA 2017), thus setting the new world record for the Largest gathering of people dressed as cats.

A total of 440 people, clad in full cat costumes – complete with ears and tail, participated in the event held in conjunction with this year’s Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA 2017).

The Guinness World Records world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as dogs is 439 and was achieved by NFU Mutual (UK), in Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK, on 20 April 2016.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people wearing Cat in the Hat hats; it is 1,223, and was achieved by Richland Elementary school (USA) in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, USA, on 9 March 2015.

Participants had converged at the amphitheatre at about 5pm for the judges to tally the number of crowds involved in the gathering.

Sarawak, in May last year, created another world record for the world’s longest rattan mat handcrafted by some 400 people among the Orang Ulu community from Belaga and Sungai.
