Fastest Bed: UAE breaks Guinness World Record

Umm Al Quwain, UAE – January 14, 2017 – Online accommodation booking website Hotels.com partnered with British race car driver Tom Onslow-Cole to create the world’s fastest mobile bed; Tom drove the motorized mattress 83.8 miles per hour on a track at the Emirates Motor Sports Complex in Umm Al Quwain, United Arab Emirates, setting the new world record for the Fastest Bed.

The Guinness World Records world record for the most people crammed on a single bed is 54 and was achieved by Xilinmen Furniture Co. Ltd. (China), on the set of a CCTV Guinness World Records special in Beijing, China, on 7 September 2013.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people eating breakfast in bed; it is 418 and was achieved by Sheraton Langfang Chaobai River Hotel (China), in Langfang, Hebei, China on 16 August 2015.

“I was made-up to take the world’s fastest bed record with Hotels.com, it was an unforgettable experience and I hope it’ll stand the test of time – it’ll take some beating!” Onslow-Cole said.

Hotels.com constructed the bed to celebrate the launch of its new Middle East portal.

The previous Guinness world record of 69 miles per hour was set in 2009 by Edd, China who also holds the record for the Fastest toilet (42.25 mph), Fastest office (87 mph) and Fastest garden shed (58.41 mph).
