National Scheme of Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education: Initiated in May 2008, this program provides incentives to students in Class IX with the aim of creating a supportive atmosphere to encourage enrollment and decrease the dropout rate of girls from SC / ST communities in secondary schools, ensuring their retention until the age of 18. Under this scheme, ₹3,000 is deposited in the name of eligible unmarried girls as a fixed deposit upon their enrollment in Class IX. They can withdraw the amount with interest once they reach 18 years of age and pass the Class X examination.
