Why are the keys on keyboards not arranged alphabetically?

Why are the keys on keyboards not arranged alphabetically? The keyboards are designed such that the people when typing with both the hands find it very comfortable to type and not have to look down at the keyboard from time to time to type. The arrangement is such that the most typed words like “the”, “an” can be typed with three different fingers with out any problem.

And second reason is no company is challenging the format and trying to bring new design because of fear of loss due to unpopularity and that may prove bad design.

PLUS

Type writers are not alphabetical because the old way they were made was as such that the keys couldn’t be typed to fast as a hammer like object with the key printed on it struck the paper and made the ink come through and if it was arranged alpha style certain keys next to each other or very close i.e. a and e that get used alot would strike each other at the base of the hammers and jam up making it harder to type faster its all about the time it takes to hit the paper and reset back in its place before the next one hits etc. think that’s right.
