"New York" is a contemporary story of friendship set against the larger than life backdrop of a city often described as the centre of the world. For most of us, larger events in the world are just headlines in the newspapers but these events can change our lives... forever. "New York" is one such story of 3 young friends whose beautiful lives are turned upside down by larger events beyond their control.
New York is a forthcoming 2009 Bollywood film about 9/11 from the perspective of international students directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. It stars John Abraham, Neil Mukesh, Katrina Kaif and Irrfan Khan.
New York is slated to be released on June 26, 2009.
Filming began in New York and Philadelphia in September 2008. During the filming in Philadelphia, local residents were surprised by what appeared to be FBI helicopters and SWAT teams until they realised it was part of a film shoot.
In January, 2009 one of the New York crew members invited John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, and Kabir Khan and other members of the film crew to his birthday party at a local nightclub in New York. Crew members, who had arrived in one car, were allowed into the nightclub. Abraham, Kaif, and Khan (along with Neil Mukesh), who had arrived in another, were denied access by security who did not recognize them and who demanded identification. Neither they nor crew members (who came from inside to help out) were able to convince security that they were important stars in India. By the time Abraham, Kaif, Khan, and Mukesh had returned with identification, the party had ended.
