Once there was a little girl called baby. She had an elder brother named Baboo. He went to school. Baby also wanted to go to school. One day, Baby saw her mother making a red skirt for her. She said, “Baby, from tomorrow you will go to school!” Baby was very happy. In the evening her father came home from office. Baby, Baboo, Mummy and Papa went to the market. Papa bought Baby a red school bag. He also bought her four books with many beautiful pictures. They were just like the books Baboo had.

The next day, Baby dressed herself in the red skirt and a white blouse. She picked up her new school bag and went to school with Mummy and Baboo. Baby had lots of fun in school. There was a very nice day lady who told them stories. She taught the children how to draw a cat. The children played on the swing. Then the lady took them to a pond and showed them jumping frogs.

Mummy had told Baby, “Do not come home alone. Wait for Baboo, right?” “Yes, Mummy, I will,” Baby said. But Baby was a naughty girl. After school was over she said to herself, “I know where the house is. I will not wait for Baboo.” So, Baby started for home without waiting for Baboo. She walked on and on. But she could not find her house. She only saw buildings that looked new to her. Yes, Baby had lost her way! She began to cry.

Suddenly, she found a big dog coming after her. She said, “Go away, doggie!” But the dog did not go away. And Baby was afraid. Baby did not know what to do. She stood on the road and looked around. And then she saw a park. “Oh, yes! Nani (grandmother) lives near this park,’ she said to herself.

Baby ran fast and reached Nani’s house. Nani opened the door. She took Baby in her arms and asked, “Why have you come alone, Baby?” Baby told her how she had lost her way. Nani rang up Baby’s mother. Soon Mummy came to take her. “Mummy, I will not come home alone from school again, “ Baby said. Now Baby waits for Mummy or Baboo to take her home every day.
