A solar electric fence is a wire fence that is meant to be used to keep cattle and other livestock from straying off someone's land or being stolen. The second any animal or person touches the fence they will receive an electric shock. Though this is not painful or harm them in anyway it sends them a message that they shouldn't be near it.
The majority of farmers will keep the livestock surrounded by these fences when they are being kept in a field or other enclosure for a short time period. The fence is made up of a single strand of wire that runs along the entire perimeter of the fence. The wire has been insulated and has been kept apart from the support of the metal stakes that keep the fence in the ground through the use of ceramic, rubber, or glass.
To prevent the wire from ever losing its charge it is kept away from items that might drain the charge it does have into the earth. Coming into contact with anything but the terminal would make it ineffective at keeping the livestock at bay.
On either end of the wire is a terminal that connects it to the electric fence charge generator. This will go live when the fence has been turned on. There is another terminal on the generator that is connected to the metal ground rod that has been placed four feet into the dirt.
On the top of the charger is a solar panel. It is mounted in a spot that will help it to receive the most amount of sunlight throughout the day. The battery will be completely discharged and than recharged when the solar electric fence is ready to be used. The battery is kept inside of the charge generator where it can constantly be working to keep the fence charged and ready to work when active. |
