Patangon Ka Mausam

Raksha Bandhan, Vasant Panchami, Makar Sankranti and 15 August are the festivals when the sky in Northern India gets dotted by kites of wonderful colors. That madness engulfs every one. Strings tied to the eaten cob of corn (bhutta) act as Lai-langar to force down kites. There is a mad rush to grab the kites that have been cut loose from their strings (dor) by fierce bettles of kites in the sky. Here is a lovely poem for children that describes the scene.
