The traditional dance of theme state Andhra Pradesh and eye-catching performances by Uzbek and Haryanvi artists marked the opening of the 25th Surajkund Crafts Fair on Tuesday. Union Minister for Tourism Subodh Kant Sahai, who was the chief guest on the occasion, declared the mela open around 4pm in the presence of chief minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Kiran Kumar Reddy and several ministers, bureaucrats and diplomats.
The mela venue looked like a mini-Andhra Pradesh, with its famous historical monuments, cuisine and exquisite handicrafts. "Being the silver jubilee celebration, Surajkund Mela will attract global tourists and tourists from different parts of India," said SN Rai, director, Haryana Tourism. |
