A Woman obsessed with eating cutlery had to go under the knife to remove 78 forks and spoons from her stomach.

Margaret Daalmans, 52, kept leaving food at meal times - but scoffed the silverware.

She eventually went to hospital complaining of tummy ache.

An astonishing X-ray revealed the forks and teaspoons clanking inside her. They were removed by surgeons.

Margaret, an estate agency secretary, told medics: "I felt an urge to eat the silverware. I could not help myself."

She said she never downed knives - but was unable to explain why.

One doctor said: "Every time she sat down for a meal she would ignore the food and eat the cutlery."

Margaret, of Rotterdam, Holland, was diagnosed with a "borderline personality disorder". She made a full recovery and is responding well to therapy.
