After watching a movie, he stated: "Jab Bardasht Khatam Ho Jata Hai Toh Thappad Dene Se Dimag Sahi Aajata Hai (When threshold of tolerance is crossed then a slap manages to put brain back in place )...Abhi Tamacha Marna hi Baki Rah Gaya Hai (Now only option left is to slap.)."
The statement was made after a special preview of movie "Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai," held at Ralegan Siddi, for the social crusader. The movie depicting a youth protagonist played by film star Akshaye Khanna, fighting corruption at lower levels, end up slapping a constable in the final frame.
Within minutes of making the statement his aide Datta Awari told: "He did not say that one should slap. Annaji was describing the character's desperation. The statement is being quoted out of context and being amplified selectively."
