It is another huge blow for India before the beginning of the match. Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out of India vs England 2nd ODI cricket match.
The second one day international is to be played today between India and England. The last match at one point looked in India's favor, till the rains came and washed out the match. But notwithstanding the fact that the match was washed out, India had many positives to take in the next match.
It gave some good practice to the Indian team with the openers doing well. This is the biggest plus for the team India. So far the openers were not clicking and with Parthiv Patel doing well as opener in the absence of regular openers and newcomer Rahane giving him good support and scoring 40 runs, the opening pair has given some hope to the team India.
Virat Kohli too came up with a rather good performance and scored 53 runs. He is a prolific batsman and when he gets going, getting him out is well nigh impossible. In the absence of Virendra Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh he is among a few dependable batsmen on whom captain Dhoni can count.
Besides Suresh Raina and Mahendra Singh Dhoni too scored more than 30 runs, thus overall giving a good show by the batsmen. Batting has been India's plus point and his batsmen are able to give a score of close to 300 runs or more, the one day series will look more competitive.
The last match showed that the batting of Indian team remained strong. Bowling too looked rather OK in the last match when Praween Kumar took two wickets after bowling four overs and giving just 11 runs.
He is a bowler who has great line and length and despite lacking speed can trouble the best of batsmen. But because of the fact that he doesn't get much of support from other bowlers and also because he lacks speed, he is not very effective very often.
Meanwhile Tendulkar has been ruled out of the ODI series, giving a further blow to the Indian chances in this important series. Most of the top players of the team including Sehwag, Yuvraj, Gautam Gambhir, Tendulkar and Zaheer are out of the team due to fitness issues. |
