The filming of Rowdy Rathore came to an abrupt halt on Monday when local workers raised an objection over the movie being shot in a protected zone.

Director Prabhu Deva was shooting a song sequence in Hampi temple with actors Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and 50 other dancers. The argument broke out because the unit had not utilised the service of the local workers. The unit arrived with 20 heavy vehicles. Leaders objected to the decision of the government for granting permission for filming in a protected zone.

An argument broke out between the locals and police. The archaeology department officials, unable to offer an explanation, fled the spot. Later, the protesters came with the members of the Karnataka Film Artistes Association. They said that Deva had violated the law by not employing 30% of the workforce from the state. When they insisted that he utilise their services, Deva packed up and left.
