Seven physically challenged players from Haryana, who have qualified for Para-Olympic events of London Olympics, on Sunay met chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at his residence.
The seven players - Amit Saroha (discus throw), Gyanendra Singh Ghanghas (long jump), Jaideep Singh (discus throw), Amit Kumar (long jump), Jagmendra (discus throw), Narender (javelin throw) and Vijay Kumar (javelin throw) - were accompanied by general secretary of Haryana Para-Olympic Committee Giri Raj to Hooda's residence.
The players succeeded in Olympic qualifier events held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on April 23-27.
Congratulating the payers, Hooda asked them to work hard and give good performance at London also, thereby bringing a good name to their family, state and the country.
Amit Saroha won Gold medal in Olympic qualifier events at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and established Asian record. He also got third place in world ranking. Jaideep Singh also showed commendable performance.
Giri Raj informed Hooda that of the 14 physically challenged athletes, who have qualified for the London Olympics, seven are from Haryana.
The players' coach Naval Singh was also present during the meeting.
