A Swiss daredevil known as Jetman has successfully completed a spectacular flight over the iconic skyline of Rio de Janeiro.

Yves Rossy made the 11 minutes 35 seconds flight after dropping from a helicopter over Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.

He then flicked on the switch on his carbon-kevlar Jetwing suit, activating his four engines, propelling him through the sky at speeds of up to 190mph.

Direction is controlled by Yves Rossy himself who uses his shoulders, body and legs to steer, pitch and descend.

The former fighter pilot has continued to push the boundaries of aviation since his first flight in Switzerland in 2006.
