With the day for honouring motherhood round the corner, Indians are all set to celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday (May 13).
Mother's Day is the occasion to make mothers realize once again the important role she plays in the life of a child in rearing him to a matured human being.
Mother's Day provides every child an opportunity to make his/her mother feel the crucial role she plays in his/her life.
However, the debate centering around the celebration of a particular day like this one have always dragged controversies and opinions as there are certain sections of the society who believe there is no need to celebrate the day as a separate occasion.
"I have a son and I do not believe that there is a need to observe a day like this. I believe that this relationship is unique and unparalleled and celebrating it separately is pointless," said Arpita Saha.
"I love it when my daughter presents me a gift on this day. However, I do not believe there is a need of celebrating the occasion separately," said Pamela Sen.
"I am mother and my child who reads in school hugs me every morning before going to school. I believe I celebrate the occasion every morning at that moment," Anusua Dey of Kolkata said.
However, there are certain people who oppose the view and believe the day holds a special significance in the calendar.
"I love my mother. At the same time I celebrate this day as it gives me a opportunity to spend some moment with my mother in a different way. I take her for a dinner and we share some nice adda (chat) there," said software engineer Arijit Banerjee.
"I feel it is good opportunity to share some good moments with my mother. I believe that this day holds a special significance at least in my life," said Arindam Das.
From presenting her a small gift as a token of love to taking her out for a family dinner, one can try several ways to make the day really special for his mother.
Mother's Day has got a commercial angle too and various companies are taking the opportunity to popularize their products and services, albeit with discounts and special offers.
