A tourism expert on Saturday said governments around the world are becoming conscious of the importance of tourism and its impact on their economies. The Tourism Indaba is currently underway at the Durban International Convention Centre, showcasing South Africa's tourism products.
The gathering has attracted over 13, 000 visitors from the across the world. Lonrho Hotels CEO Ewan Cameron said governments have woken up to the opportunities offered by the tourism industry. He said the industry has the ability to drive the gross domestic product, create wealth and skills.
He said the industry is able take people from any background and equip them with the necessary knowledge to sustain a successful career in tourism. |
