Sriram started learning mridangam at the age of 5 under the tutelage of Guru Sri. T. V. L. Narayanan, disciple of Sri Palani Subramaniam Pillai. After completing his mridanga arangetram at age 12, he began training on the ghatam and tabla. He has accompanied several well-known artists in the Flint Thyaragaraja Utsavam Concerts and other concerts in the Metro Detroit area. He has played for several dance performances in India and US. He has also played extensively for the Madras Regional Television and the All India Radio. A talented mridangam, ghatam and tabla artist, Sriram also plays the flute, which he learnt from Sikkil Mythili Chandrasekhar, daughter of renowned flautist, Kunjumani who is one of the Sikkil Sisters. Sriram is also co-founder and part of 'Michigan Beats', an Instrumental Fusion group. |
