| Written by: Euripides; Director: Tomasz Rodowicz; Songs of Euripides revolves around women called the Bacchae. The performance focuses on reading the choir parts of Euripides' classic play through gesture, song and dance. The play is contemporary choreia, and through the unity of music, gesture and word is looking for a new language to communicate with the world. The primeval rhythm of Greek texts along with ancient music in the background sets the stage for choral, polyphonic interpretations of the Dionysian myth, as the atmosphere of Bacchic Maenads pervades space, sound, gesture and movement. |
