Why are most springs in valleys or low places?

Why are most springs in valleys or low places? When it rains, the outer soil of the earth absorbs it. Some water is evaporated and some is absorbed by roots of the trees and plants. The remaining part of the water goes downward due to gravitation. It goes as far below as the openings and cracks of rocks will permit. There is a zone below the surface of the land where all the openings in the rocks are perfectly filled with water. Its depth is different in each place. This zone is called “the ground water zone” by geologist. The upper surface of this ground water zone is called “the water table”. When water finds a natural opening in the ground that is lower than the water table, a spring comes into existence. That is the reason why most springs are found in low places or valleys. A spring is always flowing down from some upper water level, so it does not defy the law of gravity.
