A multi-national company, the Ramee Group of Hotels and Resorts, head quartered in Dubai is the brainchild of Mr V.M. (Raj) Shetty. Currently operating and managing 30 properties in the mid-market segment as hotels, resorts and apartments in UAE, Bahrain, Oman and India, it will soon be launching its first five star property Ramee Grand at Bannerghatta road in the city. This is slated to be operational by November 2010. Within the country itself the group runs five 'Four Star' properties under the brand name Ramee Guestline Hotels and has plans to start Ramee Guestline Hotel in Pune and in Khar, a suburb of Mumbai to be operational by 2010 and 2011 respectively. A whopping sum of Rs 700 crore (approx.) totally is being invested in all these three properties. According to Sudhanshu Kumar Singh, Director & Group General Manager, Ramee Group of Hotels, Resorts & Apartments the Company is on the hunt for properties in Ahmedabad, Goa, Chandigarh, Goa and Mangalore. And by 2015 has plans afoot to launch 15 new hotels across the country. Moreover, plans are on the anvil to launch five star brand Ramee Grand in major cities. They are also thinking in terms of coming up with an IPO for all upcoming projects by the first quarter of 2009, sources here inform. Sources giving details about the luxury business hotels, say that Ramee Grand will be having 180 rooms, an Indian restaurant (Its Mirchi), a lounge bar, a south Indian restaurant, Far East Seafood Cafe, a 24X7 coffee shop, a discotheque (Rock Bottom) and a fitness club. This hotel would be spread across an area of two acres, the property would grant four floors to commercial shops. It will also have a banquet hall which can be divided into four separate banquets. In all around 5,000 people may be accommodated. This property will be managed and operated solely by Ramee Hotels Pvt Ltd. With regard to overseas market too the Company is keenly on the look out for more hotel properties particularly in the Gulf Region, Eastern Europe and UK. It is currently in negotiation with hotel and serviced apartment properties in these countries to achieve its growth plans. It is estimated that the group will operate and manage about 50 hotels in the next 3-5 years. It will also branch out into stand-alone innovative restaurant concepts and an industrial catering division in the near future. The group is being made internally stronger with the addition of qualified, skilled and experienced staffs and management professionals, who will assist in the achievement of its growth plans, informs inside sources.
