The Betla National Park, Jharkhand ranks among the popular national parks in India. It is located in the state of Jharkhand in the Palamau district. Betla National Park, Jharkhand consists of dense tropical rain forests which provide wonderful shelter for various species of mammals, reptiles and birds. The Betla National Park in Jharkhand consists of 1026 sq kms in area and consists of vast stretches of tropical forest and grasslands. The national park consists of beautiful mountains and cliffs which offers excellent opportunities for trekking and mountain hiking trips. It was made into a national park in the year 1989.

The ideal time for coming to the Betla National Park is in the spring season when the forest is at full bloom. The national park is also well accessible and can be easily reached from places like Ranchi, Daltongunj and Hazaribagh. The Betla National Park, Jharkhand is home to wide species of mammals like tigers, gaurs, deer, leopards, elephants, sloth bears, nilgais, porcupines, jackals and so on. There are also various species of monkeys and baboons. Bird watching is a popular activity in the national park as it is home to diverse species of birds such as Common Whistling and Cotton Teal, Comb Duck, Geese and Snipes.
Plenty of wildlife safari trips are made to the Betla National Park in Jharkhand. Visit to the national park is a major part in the itinerary of Jharkhand wildlife tours.

How to reach Betla National Park:

By Air
The nearest airport Ranchi is connected by daily flights to all Indian Metros. Most resorts have pick-ups facilities. MP Tourism also arranges pick-ups on advance notice. .

By Rail
The nearest railhead is at Daltonganj from where one can take either taxi or bus.

By Road
NH75 from Ranchi via Kuru and Latehar. Betla is well connected to Daltonganj (25 kms) via Khudia morh (6km), Ranchi (140 kms), Hazaribagh (190 kms), Netarhat (211 kms), Patna (384 kms), Calcutta (575 kms) etc by regular buses run by the state transport corporation and private companies.

The accommodation facilities in the tourist complex, include three star hotel, tourist lodges with canteen, log huts and tree houses inside the forest with fully furnished suites.
