 If you are in Delhi and looking for a break from the humdrum city life, Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is an ideal place to spend a day with wonderful avian species. The sanctuary is located about 46 kilometres from Delhi in Haryana. Haryana is the neighbouring state of Delhi. The sanctuary is a bird watcher's paradise. Declared a bird reserve in 1972, Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is home to a number of birds and animals. Migratory birds also flock the sanctuary in winter. There are a number of birds that you can watch on your bird watching tour to Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary. Some of the birds that you come across are ruddy shelducks, demoiselle cranes, flamingoes, bar-headed geese, pelicans, gadwalls, mallards, pochards, teals and shovellers. Some of the local birds include red-wattled lapwings, herons, plovers, white ibises, cormorants, painted storks and spoonbills.

From Gurgaon there are regular buses to the Sultanpur National Park run by Haryana State Roadways. Gurgaon is connected to Delhi by buses leaving Dhaula Kuan in Delhi every five minutes. Taxis and tourist cars are also available on hire from Delhi and Gurgaon to visit Sultanpur. |

The Haryana Tourism Development Corporation runs tourist lodge that has air-conditioned as well as general rooms. There is public parking, bathrooms, drinking water facilities and children's park in the reserve. There are guest rooms, cottages with restaurant, available for tourists. |
