QNCC is the first of its kind being built to the gold certification of U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED). In keeping with Qatar's emerging status as a global hub of ideas and innovation, QNCC will provide a unique stage hosting a full range of conventions and meetings. QNCC's signature entrance recalls a traditional place of gathering in Qatari culture. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, the spectacular facade is symbolic of two intertwined sidra trees. The sidra is a beloved icon in Qatari culture. It is a beacon of learning and comfort in the desert, a shady haven for poets and scholars, who gathered beneath its branches to discuss and impart knowledge.
