This plant is native Eastern Africa, and it is found in Cerrado vegetation of Brazil and Hawaii. The black-eyed Susan vine, Thunbergia alata, a twining plant with arrowhead-shaped leaves, can be trained to climb a trellis or be displayed in a hanging basket.
