How To Make Traditional Jack-O-Lantern

  • You will need a large ice-cream scoop, a long and thin-edged knife and some newspaper for the traditional pumpkin carving.
  • Use the knife to make a hole at the top of the pumpkin, by cutting it along with stem. Make sure to hold the knife it at an angle, so that the lid and the hole are cone-shaped and lid doesn’t fall into the pumpkin. This hole can be round or can be in shape of a pentagon or hexagon.
  • Make the hole large enough to allow you to scoop the contents of the pumpkin, along with its seeds and also scrape its sides.
  • Choose the particular side of the pumpkin that would be the best for the purpose of carving the face you want. Now, use crayons to mark the lines on the pumpkin.
  • Use the knife to cut through the lines and carefully push out the pieces, using a knife with a blunt tip.
  • Scrape the bottom of the pumpkin until it becomes flat, so that it does not topple over easily.
  • Illuminate your traditional pumpkin with white pillar votive candles, placed inside a clear glass candle holder for safety and brightness.
  • Your traditional pumpkin is ready to be put on display!
