Most US states abound with a wide variety of state flowers that determine the characteristics of that particular state. Nature's abundance is reflected in these flowers that are scattered all over US. State flowers give a unique look to a particular state and thereby, contribute in forming a unique look of the nation. In spite of its skyscrapers and high rises, the states of US still retain a natural look because of these state flowers.
Alabama is proud to present its two important state flowers, camellia and oak-leaf hydrangea. The former is a state flower while the latter is a state wild flower. Camellia is an important flowering plant, available in about three different types:
Double flowered camellia
Camellia japonica 'Pink Perfection'
The oak-leaf hydrangea is also an important wild flower of Alabama. This flower changes its color from creamy white, pink to rusty brown. Another US state having one of the brightest state flowers is California, with the state flower California poppy. This flower too changes its color like oak-leaf hydrangea, from early March to May. It is a heavenly pleasure to see a valley covered with fully bloomed California poppy. Bright orange color of these flowers make the field look like a colorful carpet.
