Urticaria (also called Hives) is a common pattern of itchy or burning oedamatous swelling occurring anywhere on the body and lasting for less than 24 hours. The symptoms are caused by degranulation (with release of histamine).

Contact with animal saliva -
Physical conditions (heat, cold, pressure, sun, exercises, water) -
Infection According to Ayurveda: Urticaria in Ayurveda is known as sheetpitta. Vat and kapha are two “doshas”, which are primarily disturbed. In the combination with pitta they create redness, swelling and itching on the skin. Acute urticaria is associated with more diffuse swelling of lips , face and throat and is spread all over the body. Home Remedies: -
Massage with the coconut oil helps to get relief of itching -
If the cause is physical like heat or cold stroke, keep a patient under a blanket for sometime. After sweating out a patient should get relieved -
Ginger juice mixed with water -
'Doob’ (grass) mixed with turmeric powder can help to get relieved of itching -
