A solo exhibition of paintings of Rahul Thomas Venkatesh at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat. This seven painting series is about the passing of my grandfather, from the layered and often overlapping perspectives of religious mythology. The work can be described as large format, quasi-surrealist oil on canvas paintings. He was born in Bangalore, but raised in Syracuse, New York. I started my higher education as a medical student but left that to pursue art after rediscovering a long forgotten love of drawing and being introduced to painting in 2002. I studied illustration at Syracuse University and have a BFA (bachelor of fine arts) degree.
